The Quad City Leadership Alumni Association has been created with a purpose to continue the leadership development for our communities emerging leaders, to actively promote a culture of learning and reflection, to champion excellence in leadership, to aid in improving the Quad Cities.
Plan are being made for a re-union in September.
Join us and keep the area strong in leadership.
The Quad City Leadership Academy is beginning its fourth year already! This past year, we were busy creating opportunities for you to keep up with the community, leadership skills and networking. Some of the offerings were:
· 12 months of updates including articles from experts and your peers, tons of volunteer opportunities, book reviews on leadership, profiles of graduates, etc. · Special breakfast event with Bill Leaver, CEO of Iowa Health Systems. It also offered a chance for you to network with YPN/Next and Student Leadership.
· 24/7 website to get the latest information with a special members sections which offered Leadership Material not offered on the general portion of the site. .
· Tours including a hard hat tour of Jumer's Island Casino, and Riverstone Quarry, an Arsenal tour to learn more about the Humvee shields, and more! · Volunteer opportunities—some board possibilities as well as limited time commitment opportunities.
· Access to Community Leaders, what is happening, how you can help, etc.
· Oh, yeah—and networking, too!
It will also provide opportunities to:
• Expand networks and social capital
• Expand on the leadership gained
• Apply knowledge through work opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and mentoring
• Stay current with community, leadership, and other issue/topics
There are many benefits to membership in the Quad City Leadership Alumni Association. Some of these benefits are:
• Events - Networking events will give QCLAA members an opportunity to meet other area leaders in the business community. These events will include a short program about a local issue or leadership topic.
• Half Day Workshops - Workshops will be presented to help train attendees on various leadership topics. Discussion groups will help challenge attendees thoughts and views. Discussion groups will be formatted in an open forum about a current local, national, or international issue or problem.
• Organized Community Service Opportunities - Get involved! Group community service volunteer opportunities allow participants to work on a limited time commitment in a group setting to accomplish a larger goal.
• Board/Committee Openings Postings - Local board and committee openings will be posted for easy access. Learn how you can become involved with area organizations.
• Monthly E-Newsletter - Keep up-to-date on leadership skills, job opportunities, and "grapevine" announcements about what is happening in and around the Quad Cities.
• Off the Beaten Path Tours- Ever wonder how some Quad City area favorites are made? What is happening inside of those places that are not easily accessible? Here's your chance to learn about these places of business, why they call the Quad City Area home, their history and futures, and their views on leadership.
